Employment Mediation Training
Many companies, government agencies, and universities are discovering that mediation is an effective way of resolving conflicts and disputes that arise in the workplace. Unresolved conflicts lead to reduced productivity and higher costs, including costs associated with litigation and adversarial procedures. Mediation can provide a way to resolve many disputes before they escalate. Through mediation, ongoing relationships can also be improved, leading to a more harmonious and productive workplace. Effective conflict management between individuals, as well as organizations, saves time and financial resources and results in higher profits.
This course teaches mediation process and techniques for effective dispute resolution in the workplace. Special emphasis will be given to
- the relationship of mediation to other workplace conflict management processes,
- the role of the internal mediator,
- stages of mediation,
- mediation in union and non-union work environments, and
- issues of neutrality and confidentiality.
The course includes role play opportunities for participants.
